How to Overcome Failure

Someone said, “Failure is the pillar of success.” Everyone should believe in this thought. There are two kinds of people around us: those who fail, and those who succeed. Which one of these two you want to be is completely your choice. Hence, choose wisely.

All goals are like destinations. Each of them has specific paths leading to them. And ALL of them have the probability of success and failure, to reach them.

In order for some of us to succeed, it is mandatory for others to fail. However, failure is not the end of the road. It is always possible to pick yourself up and carry on. It is this ability to overcome failure that makes you different from a loser. Don’t quit.

In order to overcome failure there are certain things you need to remember:

- Don’t let anyone know that you feel defeated. This can pose two kinds of problems: Firstly, there are many individuals who derive pleasure in others’ defeat. You will only be providing them with more ammunition that will against you and for them. Secondly, letting others know that you have failed means you are giving in to failure.

- Don’t waste your time explaining to yourself and to others the reason for your temporary hitch. Look at the problem single-mindedly and carry on after making necessary changes in your plan.

- Distinguish between anxiety/panic and a genuine problem. Many of us tend to worry over baseless issues. It is important to pull ourselves out of this hole we create for ourselves, and move on.

- Although you should not make yourself vulnerable to the whole world by letting them know how much the present failure has affected you, you don’t have to keep all of it to yourself. It is okay to share your thoughts with friends and family and even take their advice. Sometimes, an outside perspective helps more in such situations.

- Discuss the present situation with someone who has experienced similar low phases in his or her life. Knowing that you are not the only one who fails in life can be a morale booster of sorts.

- Indulge in a physical activity to reduce stress. Scientists believe that physical exertion relaxes the brain and vice versa.

- Don’t be afraid to try again. Sometimes it takes a few changes before you succeed. At others you might need to do it right.

- Always remember those who have failed in their journey to attain success are always more valued than those who have had it easy in life.

While you are trying to cope with failure in life, you also have to know certain flipsides to the situation. There are many people who start living their life as a big failure.

Getting used to failing is never going to make you do it right. Therefore, making failure a habit will only take you further away from success. Hence, you need to look in to the matter, identify the problem and fix it. Don’t just let things be the way they are.
