Body mass is a very important facet in bodybuilding and for those who have not been able to attain it the natural way have turned to using anabolic steroids. Anabolic steroids however have the following side effects; enlargement of the clitoris, irregularity of the menstrual cycle, growth of facial hair in women, shrinking of testicles in men, low sperm count, decrease in libido, baldness, kidney problems, liver conditions, heart ailments, insomnia, increase in aggression, and depression. The reason why I do not encourage the use of steroids to increase body mass is due to the above side effects.
In order to increase your body mass you should ensure that you do not restrict your body of the essential calories. When you limit the amount of calories that you consume your body will go into starvation mode.
When the body is in starvation mode it will preserve its energy by burning muscles instead of fat. This will deplete the percentage of muscles you have in your body and therefore your metabolism will go down.
As a result of the decrease in metabolism you will not be able to burn a lot of calories and so your body fat will increase since the excess calories will be converted into fat. You therefore need to eat a lot of foods which are rich in calories. Your meal should comprise of carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fat.
For you to be able to undertake intense training in the gym your body requires to be supplied with plenty of energy. The energy source of the body is derived from calories. Complex carbohydrates contain plenty of calories which are the prerequisite for intense training. There are various sources of complex carbohydrates which include; like yams, oatmeal, cassava, brown rice, and potatoes. Healthy fat also contain high amounts of calories which are needed for intense training. You also need to take a lot of protein foods since proteins are the building blocks of muscles. Proteins will enable your muscles to recover very fast after the intense training.
If you want to increase your body mass you should avoid doing aerobic exercises, this form of exercise is reserved to people who want to lose weight. Since your intention it to increase body mass you should focus on weight training exercises. You need to be very serious when lifting weights and do not neglect to ensure that each weight training session is intense.
