Reach Your Goals By Taking Action
We have often compared our lives to a ship traveling through turbulent seas in order in to reach the calm waters…we can’t always steer our ships in the right direction. Sometimes it so happens we are stuck in the stormy seas, unable to see how to reach the calm again. These situations happen to all of us at some point in our lives.
Sometimes we find ourselves so lost, and we do not know to extricate ourselves from that situation. Living in inaction is certainly not the right way to go about life… if you are in any kind of difficulty, whether personal or professional, you must work your way through it and resolve it before it enmeshes you completely.
Every difficulty, however small or big, is equally crucial and just as important. Problems cannot be ignored because they are trivial, because an ignored problem may grow and pose as a bigger threat. Don’t be afraid to resolve your problems, as in the end, it is to ensure you reach the calm, pristine waters of life.
- There are times in life when we are bogged down by questions that we don’t have the answers to. Unanswered questions are like shackles, which prevent us from moving further in life. The more of these questions we are posed with, we tend to slow down, lose our way, and ultimately lie stranded in the troubles of life.
Questions like this are often fearful, no doubt, but to overcome them, you need to develop a very positive sense of self worth. Read things that alleviate your feelings and sense of being.
The best way to go about bringing about a change in your outlook is to hang up some inspiring quotes around your room. Read them aloud everyday, till you feel the warmth of a new found confidence sweeping through your body. Try to write out the words ‘I can do it’ as many times as you can, that’s something I consider the biggest confidence gainer!
- Obstacles are really stepping stones that you’ll have to overcome. If you’ve seen stepping stones, you’ll know that whilst crossing them, big leaps won’t do, they’ll land you in the water! Rather, the strategy is to concentrate on one stone at a time, a small jump taken carefully will get you to the shore unharmed.
The same goes for overcoming the troubles we face. Instead of trying to jump over all your troubles, plan your moves carefully. Take small steps towards fulfilling your goals, the process takes time, but it sure gets you to your desired goal, to peace of mind. Does doing this seem rather easy?
On the contrary, its not! I go back to stepping stones. When you want to cross one, you’ll have to know extremely well how to jump so that you reach the next stone and not land up in the water. In the same way, when you’re eliminating your troubles one by one, you’ll have to know exactly how to go about it, so that none of your jumps fall short of the desired distance.
- The next step is sharing your problems with someone who can help you decide your next step. Keep in mind that you must share your thoughts with someone who is extremely optimistic and will help you imbibe the same feelings in yourself, rather than making you all the more about your troubles. Having a mentor makes your strategy a lot easier.
Don’t be afraid to share your feelings with someone who can help. You’re not the only one in the blues, there are thousand like you, who have their troubles and want to get out of it. Just as there are so many out there who are gong through the same situation, there are just as many who can help you get out of it. So don’t shy away from taking help, talking it out, and sharing your feelings.
- I take it that if you’ve followed those last three steps carefully, you know by now what you need to do! If you want to make a difference to your life, you’ll have to approach it a little differently. Maturity comes with experience, both good and bad. It’s very rare that you get what you want at the very first attempt, what we all need a few chances to gain our ground in what is best suited for us.
Don’t be afraid to try something new for the fear of doing badly. You’heard the famous saying ‘failures are the pillars of success,’ so don’t be afraid of failing. Learn from your experiences, and use them later.
There are always things that work out and things that don’t, but that’s life, and all you’ll have to do is take it all in your stride! Remember that all your obstacles, in the long run, make you a lot wiser.
